Excellent, useful text using real case histories
I am a patient of Dr. Gersh and am one of the case studies presented in the book. It is now five years + since diagnosis. My prognosis gave a 10% five year survival rate. I believe my result was helped by the doctor and his methods!

Miriam's Journal Series
I have read the first three in this series. They're GREAT! What's even better is that this is a true Amish woman's journal. It has helped me to better understand their way of living and their faith. We have an Amish community near here and I appreciate it even more now.

The Monkey Book (Golden Super Shape Book)
Published in Paperback by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (October, 1999)
Author: Jan Pfloog
Average review score:

the only book my 2-year old wants to read
I had no intention of buying a book, and when my 2 year old asked for it, I was skeptical. It is now the most read book on his bookshelf. It's colorful pictures and simple but educational text has definitely been a hit in my home. We also take it with us when we go to the zoo, and have seen many of the monkeys there, that are discussed in this book!

Author: Velma Susanne Warren
Average review score:

Good pics for Collector
This is a nice book showing pictures of some very nice golden oak antique furniture. It shows many high-end examples and a few of the more common items. The price guide is very optimistic in my opinion, at least for the mid-west region of the country. This is a nice follow up to the original Golden Oak book and I highly recommend it if you are an anitique furniture enthusiast.

Muppet Babies Baby Farm Aminals book review
This is a wonderfully written book for children. So far, out of all the farm animal type books that I have read to my two children this one has been the favorite of both of them. The author uses not only the typical animal sounds to hold the intrest of the little critics, but he also ends each page with a rhyme. The rhyming captivated my youngest child by the time he was only a few months old. The illustrations are bright and colorful, portraying various friendly looking farm animals, keeping little eyes' attention. This is the best animal book that I have ever read. It's rhymes, sounds, and pictures are perfectly suited for even the youngest readers.

Muppet Kids in Piggy Takes a Dare (Golden Look-Look Book)
Published in Hardcover by Goldencraft (December, 1991)
Authors: Ellen Weiss and Tom Brannon
Average review score:

A very cute book.
I was rummaging through some old boxes, and I came upon this book. I sat down, and read it, and was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It has the kindness and warmth of Seasame Street books, with the wonderful characters places from the Muppets. Who can resist Miss Piggy? If you can find it, I would suggest getting it for your young child, or just reading it to yourself for fun.

My First Golden Book of 123's: A Counting Book
Published in Library Binding by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (June, 1999)
Authors: Golden Books and Gathrid
Average review score:

This is a great book for toddlers and pre-schoolers!
What a great book! It is a nice large size hardcover book with sturdy pages. There are beautiful, true to life pictures of familiar objects on every page. It is a simple picture book interesting to babies and toddlers but more complex with questions for pre-shoolers to find the answers to. My one year old and four year old both enjoy this book.

My Golden Age of Singing (Opera Biography Series, No. 10)
Published in Hardcover by Amadeus Pr (October, 1998)
Authors: Frieda Hempel, William R. Moran, and Elizabeth Johnston
Average review score:

an unusually readable autobiography of a superb soprano
Hempel was, as her recordings clearly show, one of the century's finest sopranos. It also turns out she was one of its finest autobiographers as well. The book was dictated and checked by the soprano before her death in 1955, shortly after which the German edition appeared and for which she wrote the prefact two days before her death. Remarkably, an English version was written prior to the German version but, for reasons known only to Hemple, was never published. Elizabeth Johnston, the diva's friend, deserves our thanks for her efforts on behalf of the English version.

What makes this book so refreshing, aside from the lack of a ghostwriter, is its highly readible style and worthwhile content. Those, like myself, who are tired of the vacuous, vapid "I sang here", "I sang there" litany will find Hempel a candid writer and one who can write modestly yet entertainingly of her long career that included singing with Caruso and under the baton of Toscanini. Had she not been a remarkable soprano, she would have been an equally fine writer.

The book is highly recommendable to vocal aficianados and anyone who cares to meet a fascinating, great lady.

My Golden Spoon: Memoirs of a Capital Lady
Published in Hardcover by Madison Books (July, 1997)
Author: Eleanor Davies Tydings Ditzen
Average review score:

Good Reading!
Who would think a book of long-ago political figures could be so interesting. Chocked full of behind-the-scenes, in-depth portrayals of past presidents, ambassadors, foreign dignitaries, family and friends. Gives an excellent window on the political scene and how with "one hand washing the other", the work of government is accomplished. Well Done!
